When you mix the rolling of the wrists, hip rotation, and your follow through all together you should end up with some great arm extension. When you actually make your first contact with the ball you should be in what I call the "V' formation. You want to have your hands away from your body. Having your hands too close to your body will force you to jam yourself and not get full arm extension. You should be on the balls of your back foot and your arms should be in a "V" shape. I have some photo's below that will demonstrate what I mean.

When you extend your arms across the plate you want to concentrate on making contact with ball in front of the plate. Too many people make the mistake of letting the ball get in on them. If you become an aggressive hitter and start to go out and attack the ball you will get maximum extension, with the results being a bomb...Leverage is what helps the ball go farther. Sure a great swing with a fast bat speed is going to do good but it is the leverage that really makes a big difference in hitting. If you have ever noticed most of the guys that hit the ball the farthest are players that are real tall or lanky with long arms. This is why you see people trying to use longer bats.

Once you have mastered the "V" motion, you are now ready to experiment with just the slightest uppercut to your swing. I always tell people to swing level at the ball. I still do. It so easy to start swinging up at the ball and messing your swing up. I think all great homer hitters have that little upswing in their motion. There is one difference between the upper cut and the upswing. When you take that little upswing you stay in the hitting zone longer than the person with the uppercut. If you can perfect that upswing on a consistent basis then you will have one heck of a good swing.
